Information regarding the situation in Iran, the Middle East, and the Gulf states
Here we provide information on topics relating to the situation in the affected regions (Iran, the Middle East, and the Gulf states).
Information from the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (FDFA)
Information and recommendations from the FDFA for Swiss travelers can be found here: Situation in Iran
- Important information for affected clients who are currently in the region or who need to travel back via the region: The FDFA recommends registering on the FDFA Travel Admin app, following the instructions of the local authorities, and contacting the service provider (e.g. airline) or the tour operator regarding travel planning or rebooking.
- Important information for affected clients who have planned a trip to or via the affected region in the coming days or weeks:
For further information, please contact your tour operator or airline directly.
Information on insurance benefits
In connection with the armed conflicts in the Middle East, we are receiving many inquiries regarding insurance coverage. Please note the following points:
Important note from an insurance perspective: Do not act hastily.
Do not cancel your trip prematurely. In any case, always contact your service provider (tour operator, airline, hotel, car rental company) first to clarify the next steps. Service providers have adapted their policies to the current situation and often offer flexible options for rebooking and cancellation. However, a precautionary cancellation on your own initiative may not be reimbursed and is also not insured.
The situation continues to evolve dynamically. At present, it is not possible to foresee how matters will develop in the coming days and weeks. If you cancel your trip on your own authority, you bear the financial risk and must pay any cancellation costs yourself. Monitor the situation closely and contact your service provider in good time for further information.
- Before starting a journey:
If a journey is canceled or a flight route is changed, the service provider as the contractual partner is generally responsible – for example, the tour operator or the airline. Please contact the service provider first (tour operator, airline, hotel, car rental company). In some cases, services that have already been booked, such as flights or hotel accommodations, may be canceled or rebooked free of charge. This depends on the applicable contractual terms and conditions. If you booked through a travel agency, please contact them directly. - During a journey:
In this exceptional situation, we will endeavor to support our travelers as best as possible in the event of medical issues while they are traveling. Affected clients are asked to contact the insurer directly. For questions regarding the continuation of the trip or rebooking, please contact your tour operator or the responsible airline directly. - Please also consult the applicable General Terms and Conditions of Insurance regarding losses resulting from acts of war:
According to the General Terms and Conditions of Insurance, losses resulting from acts of war are explicitly excluded. Therefore, the insurer cannot cover any costs in such cases. An exception applies to trip cancellation and trip interruption coverage if the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (FDFA) issued a travel warning for your destination after your booking. In this case, coverage may apply in accordance with the General Terms and Conditions of Insurance.
Please first contact your service provider (tour operator, airline, hotel, car rental company) to obtain a verifiable reimbursement of costs. Only if no reimbursement is provided will the insurer review a possible assumption of costs in accordance with the General Terms and Conditions of Insurance. - If you have further questions regarding insurance matters, please contact the insurer directly.
